farm bill livestock forage programIf you have or had cattle during the years 2011, 2012, 2013 and this year for beef production, you will want to keep reading.  The 2014 Farm Bill has a program that offers financial assistance for cattle owners who suffered losses due to the ongoing drought.  The Programs, Livestock Forage Program (LFP) and Livestock Idemnity Program (LIP) exist to provide compensation for eligible losses that are eligible back to October 1, 2011.  The LFP provides compensation to eligible produces who suffered grazing losses due to drought and the LIP provide compensation to livestock producers who suffered livestock death losses in excess of normal mortality due to adverse weather.

To apply for funds, proper documentation is required and one must make an appointment with the USDA office in one’s county.  There, the appropriate paperwork will be filled out and forms submitted to the USDA.  Never before has there been a Farm Bill for cattle producers such as this.  The funds are simply there and available to help offset the costs and losses that have and continue to exist due to the current drought.
