Ever thought about starting your own flock of laying hens?  In fact, did you know that owning one’s own backyard chicken is one of the fastest growing trends in rural America?  For some it’s a hobby, for others it’s a sure way to provide fresh eggs on a daily basis.  Some just have them because they are fun.  Whatever the reason to have them or want them, on March 14 we will receive our first order of spring chicks.  We will have all the popular breeds and a few surprises.  Our next shipment will be on Friday, March 28.  Call the store at 972-635-7878 today and reserve your selection.  Our first shipment, all pullets, will contain:

  • Black Australorp
  • Barred Rock
  • Buff Orphington
  • Rhode Island Red
  • White Leghorn
  • Ameraucana
  • Silver Laced Wyandotte
  • Austra White

You’ll definitely want to take part in a special evening we have planned.  On March 27 at 6:00 pm Eagle Hardware Farm and Ranch will host our first Chick Workshop.  We’ll provide a FREE dinner catered by Richards Smokehouse. Afterwards, we will discuss what it takes to be a responsible and successful poultry owner.  From the chick to the egg and everything in between will be discussed.  As a bonus for the evening, we will also have a special guest who will add to the poultry discussion and lead out in discussing wild birds.  Bob Wucher, an chick and wild bird specialist with Purina Animal Nutrition, will discuss topics such a wild bird species in our area, bird feed options, what bird feeder is the best and where should a bird feeder go and more.

The evening is free but you’ll need to RSVP so we can be sure to have dinner for you.  Call 972-635-7878 today to reserve your spot or RSVP online using the form below.
